Uncashed Refund Checks
Occasionally refund checks are returned to our office, or simply never cashed. These funds are held in a separate account for 5 years before being turned over to the state.
If you see your name on one of our lists, submit the form below. Be sure to take note of your Transaction # as found on the list by your name. This number is required to submit a form.
If your case is verified, a stop payment will be issued on the original check, and a new check will be mailed to you.

Delinquent Tax Sale - EXCESS FUNDS The Glynn County Tax Commissioner periodically conducts tax sales to collect unpaid property taxes. At times, there are excess funds after paying taxes, costs, and all expenses of the tax sale. Glynn County holds these excess funds on behalf of the Tax Commissioner until the funds are distributed as required by law per O.C.G.A. § 48-4-5 (2021). Georgia Department of Revenue People who have lived in Georgia may have property being protected by the state, including uncashed checks, security deposits, overpayments, and more. If the owner doesn’t take action for the property within a set amount of time, the holder of the property is required to turn it over to the state.
